48 hours to better the world

I believe being an MDRT member has made me a better professional and person. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be among so many successful and balanced professionals. The selfless leadership that exists among our ranks is without compare. I’m convinced that the returns I get from MDRT membership far outweigh the time and money I’ve invested in our organization.

One of the most valuable aspects of my MDRT experience is participating in our Foundation’s service projects and semi-annual Phonathon. Over the past few years, I have had the honor of standing side by side with MDRT members from around the world to help rebuild homes in New Orleans damaged by Hurricane Katrina; prepare food for the elderly in the Kowloon City District in Hong Kong; build a playground for children in Vancouver; and, most recently, fill backpacks with supplies for the children who seek refuge at The Covenant House in Quebec City.

Currently, I’m in Chicopee, Massachusetts, attending the MDRT Foundation’s Fall Phonathon. I’m with several dozen MDRT members from around the world who have left their families and practices behind to donate their time on behalf of others. With no expectation of reward or recognition, these amazing souls spend several days hunched over phones to raise as much money as possible for the MDRT Foundation’s grants programs.

This year’s event is off to a great start! On Sunday afternoon, we volunteered at Junior Achievement of Massachusetts. While there, MDRT members shared their business and life-balance insights with the youth from the surrounding communities.

Over the next two days, I hope members will answer the outreach calls to learn more about how these grant programs can help them benefit their local communities and why their financial support is so vital to MDRT Foundation’s mission to help charitable organizations committed to people in need. You can learn more about these grant programs by going to mdrtfoundation.org or make a contribution by going to support.mdrtfoundation.org/Phonathon.
