Seminars are beneficial in many areas, including building connections and giving back to the community through education.
We partnered with a few organizations so we can offer estate planning seminars in retirement homes. You would be surprised how few families and people — even those in their 90s — lack estate plans. For example, in Canada where I live, 1 in 5 people age 55 and older lack a will, according to one survey.

So, we started going into the six retirement homes in our area, doing one presentation a month. We also went into community living facilities for people with disabilities. In doing this, we found that the caseworkers in these facilities lacked the training to manage their own finances as well as the finances for their clients in community living. We’ve opened 15 to 20 new plans for caseworkers.
For us, this wasn’t about making money but giving back. Everyone deserves professional advice.
