At one of the first MDRT meetings he attended, W.J. Rossi, CFP, ChFC, a 13-year MDRT member from Gainesville, Florida, heard something that resonated long after.
“Just remember you don’t ever want to get fired from your first and most important job, and that’s being a good husband and father,” the speaker said.
Because, while loving his clients and his works, he knows his personal life must be his first priority, Rossi says that when he stays late or works long hours he asks himself, “How am I doing at my job at home?” “Life is a balancing act,” he said. “If you’re on a tightrope and leaning a little too far left, you lean right and constantly adjust. You never see someone walk in perfect balance, and for me it’s having the awareness of where I am in that balancing cycle.”
His practice’s team approach supports this perspective. “By the way we do business, I can walk away tomorrow and not worry if clients will be taken care of,” he said. “It’s not like the business is on hold. I can take a week off and know my business partners have my back and clients will be well-served. And my coworkers know I have their back.”
