Maximizing free time by knitting gifts for clients

Some people like just kicking back and watching TV.

Heather L. Meszaros, CHS, is not one of these people.

The five-year MDRT member from Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, prefers to use that time to knit baby blankets that she can give clients who have children or grandchildren.

“People don’t take the time to make homemade things anymore,” Meszaros said. “When you have something that’s homemade, it’s much more special to the client because that doesn’t happen very often.”

Since starting this hobby in 2017, Meszaros has given away 13 blankets and still has a half-dozen or so stashed away to give in the future (she knows of two clients with babies on the way). In fact, she always has a blanket in progress so she can keep up with the demand.

“I find knitting therapeutic, so it’s a way I can do something creative and relaxing, and at the same time, it can be a huge value add to our clients,” she said.

And it’s not just while watching TV. Meszaros also knits her blankets in the car. Wait, not while driving, I hope?

“Correct!” she said, laughing. “I’m not that good at multitasking.”
