Systems and routines are important to me. They took me to MDRT’s Top of the Table and gave me more time for my family. Without systems, you hold yourself back from a more fulfilling life.
Planning for the day
You achieve goals on a step-by-step, day-by-day basis. So, it’s important to start the day off right. Each morning, I meditate, exercise and do affirmations and journaling. This process gets my brain into action, and I’m ready to launch into the day before our identical twins, Eva and Grace, wake up.
Planning for the week
My weekly structure or weekly cadence is Monday to Wednesday are client-facing appointments. Thursdays are for administrative work, and Fridays are my creative or free days. This leaves weekends for focusing on fun and family. By having structure, I find it lessens the ebb and flow of business. With this more consistent approach, I continually qualify for Court of the Table and Top of the Table.
Staying on track
One of the things I like using to stay on track is an activity scorecard. With this, I track the activity that’s important for me to reach my goals. For me, it’s how many first and second appointments I’ve had for the week, closing appointments, business submitted and claims dealt with, as well as how many phone calls and other touch points I’ve made.
By tracking the overall score, I can see when I may have been a little light in some of those areas. I also can see when I have done the work and when the rewards happen.
Planning for the year
I begin planning my annual goals in November, and this early start is always beneficial for me. It gives me a window between November and December to think about the goals and how I’ll accomplish them. Then in January, I hit the ground running.
