Now nearly 40 years into the financial services profession, Mark Weber, CLU, MSFS, gets about 80 percent of his business from referrals, freeing up time he used to spend prospecting.
Yet an equally big part of the 35-year MDRT member from Omaha, Nebraska’s ability to maintain a work-life balance is writing down goals, something many do for their professional lives but may not do for their personal lives. Weber has been doing this for 30 years, and it breaks down into most, if not all, elements of the Whole Person concept. Such as:
Health goal: What he’ll weigh when the year is over; ride more than 1,000 miles on his bike; maintain a single-digit handicap on the golf course; work out six days per week
Family goal: Take three weeks of vacation for family time
Financial goal: Save __ amount of money
Service goal: Give __ amount to charity
This is just a sample, and Weber also discusses his and other people’s goals in his study group at the end of the year to acknowledge what did and didn’t work. Here’s hoping the meeting gets in before December wraps up — Weber and his wife are spending two weeks in January in Hawaii.
