One of my clients, age 52, was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo surgery. This was shocking news for her and all of her friends, and she found the best doctor for the surgery. At that time, friends and relatives came to the hospital to visit her and give her comfort, bringing fruits and snacks and praying for her.
What did my friend need? Of course, a capable doctor to treat her disease, moral support from her family as well as prayer. I came to the hospital as her insurance agent to explain that the hospital bill would be covered by the insurance company. There is a critical illness coverage from the policy that she bought from me five years ago. This benefit will provide her a significant amount of money to help her. I could feel my client looking at me with thankful eyes, and I felt so grateful that I had become a friend in the darkest hours for her.
In the situation of critical illness or death, how much can friends or family members give in comparison to a guaranteed and significantly large sum of money that an insurance company can provide? When handling a critical illness claim like this, I am convinced of my belief that our profession as insurance agents has a great value and purpose. We can become a friend in the darkest hours for our clients.
